Know what's in your water
What's in Your Water Around Lake Travis?
Spicewood sits between two kinds of water: limestone lake water from a dozen utilities, and private wells in the Trinity and Ellenburger aquifers. A simple test shows which of these apply to your home.

Hard-water scale
Lake Travis is limestone water. The districts around the lake (Lakeway, Cedar Park, Leander, Horseshoe Bay) deliver 10 to 11 grains per gallon. That is the crust on the faucets and the extra wear on your water heater.

Chlorine and chloramine
Every utility around the lake disinfects, and many use chloramine, which lingers and slips past a standard carbon filter. That pool smell in your glass is the treatment, not the lake.

What a test can find
Disinfection byproducts, lead from older plumbing, PFAS and, in some Hill Country formations, radium do not change the taste or color of the water. A test is how you find out, and decide whether to treat.

Well water, understood
A private Trinity or Ellenburger well is looked after by its owner. Hardness, iron, sulfur and bacteria shift with the season and the water table. An annual test keeps you ahead of those changes.

Every Home's Water Is Different. So Are Our Systems.
These are the four building blocks we work with most. Most Lake Travis homes need one or two of them; a well often needs a combination. The test tells us which ones fit your water.

Every tap protected
One system at the point of entry, clean water at every tap
- Removes chlorine, chloramine, sediment and odors before water enters your plumbing
- Protects water heaters, fixtures and appliances from buildup and staining
- Sized to your home's flow rate and bathrooms, not a one-size tank
- Pairs with a softener or UV stage when the test calls for it

Hard water, solved
Say goodbye to scale, spots and dry skin
- Removes the calcium and magnesium that leave crust on faucets, glass and tile
- Softer laundry, clearer dishes, smoother skin and hair
- Extends the life of water heaters, dishwashers and tankless units
- Demand-initiated regeneration, as Texas requires on septic systems

Bottled-quality drinking water
Crisp drinking water, right from the kitchen sink
- Multi-stage filtration down to dissolved solids, lead, nitrates and PFAS
- Great-tasting water for drinking, coffee, cooking and clear ice
- Optional remineralization stage if you prefer the taste of mineral water
- Stop hauling bottled water home from the store

Chemical-free protection
Ultraviolet protection for wells, lake intakes and peace of mind
- Neutralizes bacteria and viruses without adding chemicals to your water
- The standard for private wells and raw lake or rainwater supplies
- Silent, low-maintenance, always on: one lamp change a year
- We install Viqua UV systems
Why Absolute Water Solutions
Twenty-Three Years of Hill Country Water, Tested Before It Is Treated
Three good questions for any water treatment company: who tests the water, who installs, and what license is behind it. Around Lake Travis, our answer never changes: we test a sample first, and Bret, the owner, installs.
Since 2003: 23 years and over 1,000 projects
Absolute Water Solutions has treated water from Spicewood since 2003, completing over 1,000 projects across Travis, Burnet, Hays, Blanco, Williamson and Llano counties, from Lake Travis hardness to the iron and sulfur in Trinity wells.
TCEQ Water Treatment license WT001370, insured
Texas licenses water treatment specialists through the TCEQ, and the license number should be the first thing you ask any installer for. Ours is WT001370, and the company is insured. That's the paperwork behind every system we put in.
100% of jobs installed by the owner
Bret tests your water, writes the estimate and does the install himself. We do not subcontract, so the accountability for the work stays with us from the first sample to the last filter change.
Test first, then size to fit
Every recommendation starts with a water test (hardness, chlorine or chloramine, TDS, pH and iron, plus a lab panel for wells). We size the system to the result; the smaller system that solves it is the one we quote.
Residential and commercial, from Lake Travis to the Hill Country wells
Based in Spicewood on the south shore of Lake Travis, we work the same test-first way for a lake house on utility water, a ranch on a deep Trinity well, and a commercial property that needs consistent water.

How It Works
From a Water Sample to a System That Fits
Step 1
We test your water
The first visit is a water test in your home (hardness, chlorine or chloramine, TDS, pH and iron), plus a look at where the equipment would go. Wells and lake intakes also get a lab panel. Visits are weekdays, 8 to 5.
Step 2
We explain the results and size the system
You get the numbers in plain language, then a written free estimate for only what the test showed: a softener sized for your household, carbon for chloramine, an iron or sulfur stage if the well needs one, UV or RO where they earn it.
Step 3
We install it to code
Bret does the install himself (100% of our jobs, no subcontractors) under TCEQ license WT001370, with the bypass valve, drain line and, on septic, the demand-initiated regeneration Texas rules require. We walk you through the system before we leave.
Step 4
We keep it running
Every system has consumables: salt, sediment and carbon cartridges, an RO membrane, a UV lamp about once a year. We tell you the schedule up front and we are a call away: (512) 587-8188, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
